ISIS

ISIS

Queen of Heaven and of Earth,
Moon silvered, Sun reflected one,
Robed in linen, mantle black,
Studded with the scattered stars,
And crowned by floral chaplet bright;
Ether veils her lustrous mien,
That countless time collected pales not.

Her names are many, her being one,
She, best beloved of the Sun,
Awaits in serene majesty the ones,
Heads lifted up aspire to have
Or be the dream she emanates
That most forgot.

Note: This poem was sent me by a dear friend, Leila, who lives in Cairo and has given me permission to put up here. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
